All vehicles MUST be Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) category M1 constructed or converted specifically so that they accommodate one or more persons seated in their wheelchair(s) when travelling on the road.

The vehicle must be capable of accommodating at least one wheelchair in either a forward or rear facing position whilst they remain seated in the wheelchair allowing adequate space to ensure the safety and comfort of the wheelchair user, and without interfering with the safety and comfort of any other passengers.

All vehicles must hold and evidence any of the following certificates:

• an M1 European Whole Vehicle Type Approval Certificate


• an M1 National Level Low Volume Type Approval Certificate

If the evidence you supply is not suitable, your application will be delayed and may even be rejected.

Photo size

The photo you upload must be in JPG file format, minimum resolution accepted is 640 x 480 pixels.

The quality of your photo

Your photo must be:
• Taken within the last month
• in colour, clear and in focus
• taken against a plain background
• unaltered by software or filters

What your photo must show

Your photo must:
• contain no other objects or people
• be a close-up of your full head and upper shoulders
• be in clear contrast to the background
• be facing forward and looking straight at the camera
• have your eyes open, visible and free from reflection or glare from glasses (you can't wear sunglasses)
• not have hair in front of your eyes
• not have anything covering your face
